Leaked Parts Formed into Partially Assembled iPad 3, Including Retina Display

Following a post last week showing a possible Sharp-branded Retina display for the iPad 3, iLab Factory  has now posted images of a rear shell and dock connector for the iPad 3, which all fit together perfectly, making it much more likely that the leaked iPad 3 parts are genuine.

As 9to5Mac reports, the parts also suggest that the iPad 3 will be slightly (almost negligibly, less than 1mm) thicker than the iPad 2, likely due to the inclusion of a larger battery in order to maintain the same or better battery life with the new higher resolution display.

It’s especially interesting that all of these components match up to mounting holes found on the supposed rear shell of the iPad 3. The iPad 3 is expected to be announced in the first week of March, with the initial retail launch to occur shortly thereafter.
