Microsoft to Open New Store in Austin, TX – Right Next to Apple

The battle between Microsoft and Apple is as intense as ever, and this is reflected in their retail strategy. Microsoft has decided to open a new store in Austin, Texas, very close to an Apple Store. They confirmed the new store on their Facebook page yesterday.

Microsoft’s new retail strategy will see them open an estimated 75 stores in the next few years, including a planned store in Palo Alto, which really is Apple’s stomping ground, and will no doubt be seen as a direct provocation.

Steve Ballmer has made it clear in the past that placing Microsoft Stores near Apple Stores was his priority, and it looks like he is going to carry his plan out 100%.
