FireCore Releases Jailbreak for Latest Apple TV Software (5.1)

FireCore, developers of Seas0nPass, have update their utility to jailbreak Apple’s latest Apple TV software. Unfortunately, the jailbreak will not work on the new 1080p capable Apple TV, but this should come as good news to Apple TV 2 owners.

Keep in mind that this is only a tethered jailbreak, however, which means that you’ll have to hook your Apple TV to a Mac or PC any time you restart it to get it to boot again. This should only be a minor inconvenience, however, since the Apple TV rarely needs to be powered off or restarted.

Seas0nPass currently provides a tethered jailbreak for the new 5.0 (iOS 5.1) AppleTV software. Functionally, both jailbreak types are identical, the only difference being that a tethered jailbreak requires the AppleTV to be connected to a Mac/PC when first powering it on. Since the AppleTV doesn’t have a battery, and is rarely ever powered off, this usually only needs to be done once.

For more information, or to download the latest version of Seas0nPass, head on over to the official FireCore blog.
