A tipster has claimed that a shipment of iPad 3 cases to Best Buy has confirmed the name that Apple will use for their new device, PhoneArena reports. The boxes feature a pink sticker with ‘Do not display until official iPad 3 launch’, which if genuine eliminates the possibility of Apple using the ‘iPad 2S’ name.
The cases in question, over 1,000 Targus Versavu 360s specifically for the next-gen iPad, also suggest that the iPad 3 will hit the shelves pretty soon after launch.
Even though the new iPad is expected to keep pretty much the same dimensions, it is rumored to be slightly thicker than the current model, which creates a reason for companies to go out and create brand new cases specifically to fit the new device.
