Apple Offers New AppleCare+ With Accident Protection for New iPad

Following the introduction of a new AppleCare+ program alongside the iPhone 4S release, Apple has now replaced AppleCare for iPad with their new AppleCare+ offering as well, raising the price from $79 to $99 and adding two years of accident protection on top of the standard AppleCare coverage.

As with the previous AppleCare packages, AppleCare+ extends your iPad’s warranty from a one year warrantee with 90 days of phone support to a 2-year full-coverage warranty, and adds up to 2 incidents of accidental damage (although all accident claims are subject to a $49 fee).

Items covered under the policy include the iPad itself, the battery, any Time Capsule or AirPort device purchased with the iPad, and the iPad’s USB cable and power adapter. Also, just as with the iPhone 4S, AppleCare+ for iPad must be purchased within 30 days of the original purchase date of the iPad.
