Tether Launches Web-Based Tethering Tool for Phone

The developers of iTether, a recent tethering app that Apple approved on the App Store (only to quickly remove it), have now dodged their way past Apple’s rules  by launching an HTML5 based tethering solution that doesn’t require an App Store app.

Tether CEO Tim Burke stated the following:

It was clear from our initial application iTether, there was enormous demand within the iPhone ecosystem. It was unfortunate that Apple decided to remove our application, only 20 hours after we launched. However, this caused us to innovate. Our underlying patent-pending technology behind Tether for iPhone is unlike anything on the market.

The new web app also improves on their precious iOS app in several ways. Rather than requiring a cable connection, the new solution creates an ad hoc wireless connection, allowing you to tether wirelessly, and without the need to keep a dedicated app running in the foreground.

The service costs $30 per year and can be ordered through Tether’s website.
