Apple Releases Standalone Flashback Removal Tool for Macs Without Java

Following an Java update released Thursday for OS X intended to remove the Flashback trojan, Apple has now released a standalone Flashback removal tool for users of OS X Lion that do not have Java installed.

This Flashback malware removal tool that will remove the most common variants of the Flashback malware. 

If the Flashback malware is found, a dialog will be presented notifying the user that malware was removed. 

In some cases, the Flashback malware removal tool may need to restart your computer in order to completely remove the Flashback malware. 

This update is recommended for all OS X Lion users without Java installed.

The removal tool contains the same code found in the recent Java update, and will present a dialog to the user if it finds and removes the malware. The tool weighs in at 356 KB, and requires OS X Lion. It is available now for download from Apple’s support website.
