Intel’s $700 Ultrabook Prediction

Intel has forecast that we could be seeing a $700 Ultrabook by the autumn, The Verge reports. It has also promised 75 new ultra books over the coming months, after teasing 50 possible design concepts at this year’s CES.

The Ultrabook, a concept heavily supported by Intel who have already invested $300 million into companies for them to develop new models, are meant to feature long battery life and instant turn on times similar to tablets, as well as be direct competitors to the Macbook Air.

Despite the expected price drop, Intel general manager Kirk Skaugen emphasised (via IDG News) that  the company ‘plans to ensure ultrabooks have a consistent experience. And if it’s too thick it won’t be called an ultrabook.’
