Woz on Windows Phone: ‘Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at Microsoft’

Woz on Windows Phone: ‘Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at Microsoft’

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is well known for being outspoken, and despite his love for the iPhone, has now expressed a special form of love for the Windows Phone platform as well. In fact, in a recent interview, Wozniak even claims that Windows Phone apps are mote beautiful than their Android or iOS counterparts.

Steve Wozniak, in an interview with A New Domain (via The Verge):

I’m kind of shocked on every screen — much more beautiful than the same apps on Android and iPhone. So I think that what Microsoft or Nokia did is that they went to some of the key app makers and got them to deliberately make specialized beautiful ones or they put their own themes on.

Besides praising many design aspects of the Windows Phone platform, Woz apparently loves the design so much that he even joked that Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated inside Microsoft, although he did point out that the iPhone is still his favorite phone:

“iPhone is my favorite phone. I did give my opinion that the Windows 7 phone had superior visual appearance and operation cues that were also more attractive. In my opinion, it sets the mark for user interface. I would recommend it over my Android phones given that it doesn’t yet have the breadth of apps. I surmise that Microsoft hired someone from Apple and put money into having a role in the UI and appearance of some key apps. I also surmised that Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at MS due to a lot of what I see and feel with this phone making me think of a lot of great Apple things.”

Woz defines the experience of using a windows phone as being “with a friend” rather than using a tool. He also suggests that Windows Phone is superior to Androide in many ways, claiming that Android is much more awkward and cumbersome than Windows Phone.

There are a lot of ways in which I agree with Steve Wozniak. I’ve used Windows Phone, and I love it – I also find it much more intuitive and better designed that Android. The platform has gotten a lot of things right – and it’s certainly a huge step forward from Windows Mobile 6.5…
