Are These The Specs Of The New 13-Inch MacBook Pro?

A photo of a spec sheet that is apparently that of the 13-inch 2012 Macbook Pro has been posted on Chinese forum WeiPhone (via MICGadget), revealing an 2.5Ghz i5 Ivy Bridge processor upgrade and new Intel 4000 Graphics. Two USB 3.0 ports have also been  included.

It is unknown how reliable this is, although The Verge scanned the code on the label, and it came up with the same 826-9882-A product code revealed on the box. If this label is authentic, it’s a pretty underwhelming update for the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The screen resolution listed in these specs matches the resolution of the current 13-inch model, at 1280 x 800. In terms of weight, the forum post also says that both are almost identical – the only difference being the weight. 2.06 for the 2012 Macbook Pro compared to 2.04 for the current model.

Even if this is accurate, it’s worth noting that this doesn’t necessarily mean that the 15-inch MacBook Pro won’t feature a built-in SSD, a thinner form factor, or a Retina display (as rumored).

The 13-inch MacBook Pro has always been significantly scaled back from the 15-inch model, and the 13-inch model’s lack of discrete graphics might have made including a Retina display unfeasible. The fact that the leaked model doesn’t feature a thinner form factor could also simply reflect that Apple doesn’t want it to compete with the 13-inch MacBook Air.

The poster claims that his friend who works at Apple let him see the spec sheet, but again it could be fake. We’ll have to wait and see. We will only know for sure at WWDC.
