Apple Store iOS App Updated With Express Checkout and Location Aware Pick-Up

Apple has released an update to its popular Apple Store app for iOS today. The update adds two new features sure to be popular with Apple Store shoppers.

The first added feature is “Express Checkout”, which has been available through the online store, but will now be available through the app. Express Checkout allows a user placing an order to bypass the shopping cart, and instead click the “Buy Now” button and enter their password to complete the order. The order will automatically be placed, using the default billing and shipping information associated with the user’s account. A preference can be set to specify whether Express Checkout will default to shipping purchases, pick-up purchases, or can be set to ask each time.

The second, iPhone 4S only feature, allows the user to alert a Specialist at their local Apple retail store that they are arriving to pick up an order. In the past, customers have had to find a Specialist when they arrived, and wait for their order to be processed. The new advance check-in system allows their orders to be ready the moment they arrive at the store.

The Apple Store app is available as an update to your iOS device, and is also available free in the App Store. (App Link)
