KGI: Apple To Retire 17 inch Macbook Pro In 2012

In line with his claim that Apple is planning to resuscitate its Macbook line at WWDC, KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo went further, claiming that the 17 inch Macbook Pro will be discontinued in 2012, Apple Insider reports. It certainly would make sense due to its limited appeal to consumers and it making up only 1.7% of Apple’s notebook sales in the first quarter of 2012.

Kuo even added that all Macbook Pros could be discontinued by 2013 if the suggested new line of MacBooks goes well, even though he did state that the 13 and 15 inch models would receive updates this month at WWDC (Retina displays have been rumored).

Kuo did admit that it would be tough for Apple to suddenly discontinue the  Macbook Pro line due to the ‘high sales weighting’, hence why it would remain on the shelves until at least 2013.
