Don’t Forget – If You Bought a New Mac After June 11, Your Mountain Lion Upgrade Is Free!

Don’t forget – If you purchased a new Mac between June 1th and Mountain Lion’s launch, you are eligible for a free upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion! Your free upgrade will come through Apple’s Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program. Here’s what you need to know.

From Apple’s up-to-date program page:

The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012. Customers must request their Up-to-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchasing their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 11, 2012 and the date when Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the OS X Mountain Lion release date to make a request.

The free upgrade comes in the form of a Mac App Store redemption code that will allow you to download and install OS X Mountain Lion onto all your registered Macs through the official channel. Don’t forget – this is a great way to save $20!

To apply, just visit http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/, click the appropriate redeem link, enter your serial number and when/where you bought the machine, and presto – you have your redemption code! They even automatically email it to you!

They also have an up-to-date program for Mountain Lion Server under the same terms.
