GameDock – Transform Your iOS Device Into a Full-Fledged Game Console!

While gamepads and joysticks designed for iOS devices are certainly not a new idea, an innovative project has appeared on Kickstarter that takes the concept in a unique new direction, essentially transforming your iPhone or iPad into a complete classic console!

The GameDock (via Engadget) combines two physical NES-like game controllers (corded, of course) with a dock for your iOS device that will mirror the screen of your iOS device to your HDTV using an HDMI cable. Even more interesting, the GameDock will include a unique function to help you find games specifically verified to work correctly with the dock, complete with multiplayer support.

The device will also work with any game that works with the iCade, allowing you to choose from dozens of already available games the moment you take it out of the box.

It’s an interesting concept, to be sure, and the project is current $11000 away from its $50,000 funding goal, with 42 days left to go. A pledge of $150 dollars guarantees you a GameDock, an HDMI cable, and one controller if the project gets funded.

If you want to see this come to life, head on over to Kickstarter and make your pledge! Check out the below preview video to see the concept in action!
