Review: Pad & Quill Octavo Luxury Case for iPad

The fine handcrafted bookbindery cases made by Pad & Quill have long been among my favorite cases for the iPhone and iPad, and the company puts great effort into continually improving the cases over time. This year, alongside updated Octavo and Contega cases for the third-gen iPad, Pad & Quill has released their most exquisite iPad case yet: The Octavo Luxury Case.

Overview

The Octavo Luxury Case builds on the many improvements made to the Octavo earlier this year (as noted in our recent review), including improved shock protection and durability, and takes things to the next level with an even more luxurious and higher-end full-grain leather finish.

As with all of Pad & Quill’s offerings, the Octavo Luxury Case is an extremely durable and high quality handcrafted product, and the full-grain leather cover is as pleasurable to the eyes as it is to the touch – it’s incredibly soft and smooth.

As usual, Pad & Quill has also paid careful attention to detail – the elastic closure on the case matches the finish of the leather, the stitching is so perfect you’d swear that P&Q hand-stitched the case under a magnifying class, and the entire case has provides an overall profile and professional design that’s as classy as the iPad itself.

Verdict [rating:5]

At $120, the Octavo Luxury Case doesn’t exactly come cheap, but hand stitching and full-grain leather always come with a price – and for what it’s worth, the Octavo Luxury Case is so far the most attractive genuine leather bookbindery case I’ve ever had in my hands.
