Apple Releases First Developer Beta of OS X 10.8.2

Hot on the heels of today’s release of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 (and yesterday’s report that testing would soon begin), Apple has seeded the first beta build of OS X 10.8.2 to developers. The build is expected to bring full compatibility with new iOS 6 features.

The beta bears a build number of 12C31a, and Apple is asking developers to focus on Facebook, Messages, Game Center, and Reminders – three of which are significant areas of improvement announced in iOS 6, which confirms that 10.8.2 will be their iOS 6 compatibility release, and will likely be released in September, close around the release of iOS 6.

The build comes in the form of a 641.83 MB combo update, and is available now through the Mac Developer Center.
