The State of App Security on iOS and Android (Infographic)

Although Apple’s iOS platform is widely considered to be highly secure, it’s still not exempt from all security threats as a whole. There have been a few security concerns, mostly due to app developers insecurely transmitting or storing users’ personal data (1, 2, 3).

It’s worth noting that Apple has fixed such privacy issues in iOS 6. The only other security concerns found for iOS devices relate to hacked apps installed on jailbroken devices – and according to Arxan Technologies (via AppAdvice), 92 percent of paid iOS apps have been hacked and pirated!

While iOS is very secure (unless you jailbreak, which isn’t recommended anyway), however, Android has a reputation as being a cesspool for malware – and the number of malicious apps available for Android is growing at an alarming rate!

Arxan has put together a great infographic summing up the state of mobile security – check it out below!
