OS X Mountain Lion Boasts Fastest Desktop OS Adoption Rate of All Time

Apple latest version of OS X has only been around for a little over a month, but according to the latest data from web analytics firm Chitika, over 10% of all Macs are already running Mountain Lion – a new all-time record adoption rate for desktop operating systems.

The information comes from sampling hundreds of millions of ad impressions, and sorting them by percentage, and typically provides a fairly accurate representation of the user base as a whole. By contrast, OS X Lion took three months to reach 14% adoption, and Windows 7 took 5 months to reach 9 percent adoption. Windows XP reached 12-14 percent of users in its first year.

So, it looks like Mountain Lion just set a new all-time record – the fastest adoption rate for any desktop operating system EVER. Kudos, Apple! Well done!
