Parallels Desktop 8 to Launch on September 4th

Parallels, makers of the popular Parallels Desktop Windows-on-Mac virtual machine software, have announced that Parallels Desktop 8 will launch on September fourth, although the company hasn’t provided many details about the release.

As 9to5Mac notes, users who purchased Parallels 7 after July 25th (or who purchase it from now until version 8 is released) are entitled to a free upgrade to Parallels Desktop 7. While no specifics have been released, it’s likely that the update will be optimized for OS X Mountain Lion, and will likely include a number of enhancements and feature upgrades.

For more details on the upgrade program, head on over to the Parallels Tech Guarantee website.

If you haven’t tried Parallels yet, or are on an older version, I’d highly recommend purchasing Parallels Desktop 7 now, and taking advantage of the free upgrade! If nothing else, it’ll give you a chance to learn the ropes before the new version launches next month!
