Carriers Begin Receiving Nano-SIMs Ahead of September 12 iPhone Announcement

As Apple’s next-gen iPhone draws closer to release, carriers have apparently begun to receive the new nano-SIM that will be used in the device. iFun (via Slashgear) posted the below image of a nano-SIM from Deutsch Telecom (the parent company of T-Mobile), which began arriving early this week.

With the announcement of the new iPhone set for just over a week (on the 12th), and pre-orders rumored to begin that same day, it’s only a matter of time before these tiny SIM cards begin arriving at U.S. and other international carriers.

It’s worth noting that, while Deutsch Telecom is the parent company of T-Mobile USA, the company does carry the iPhone in other countries – just not in the U.S. to to the unusual frequencies T-Mobile uses for their 3G service in the States.

The site doesn’t specifically mention that the nano-SIMs are for the new iPhone, but Apple’s next-gen device is believed to be the first device to use the new standard, which was developed by Apple with the iPhone in mind.

Apple’s next iPhone is rumored to feature a taller 4-inch screenthinner design, and a two-tone metal rear casing, as well as a smaller dock connector, relocated FaceTime camera, new smaller nano-SIM, and LTE support, and is expected to be announced on September 12.
