Apple Tones Down Their Description of iOS 6 Maps App

Apple has faced a lot of critical backlash over errors and overall quality of their new Maps app in iOS 6. Following an official public apology by Tim Cook, and Apple promoting third-party Maps alternatives in the App Store, Apple has also changed their description for the Maps app on their website.

As noted by iDaily.de (via 9to5Mac), Apple no longer describes the app as he most beautiful, powerful mapping service ever, as in the original description below:

Designed by Apple from the ground up, Maps gives you turn-by-turn spoken directions, interactive 3D views, and the stunning Flyover feature.1 All of which may just make this app the most beautiful, powerful mapping service ever.

Instead, Apple refers to the new app in somewhat milder terms:

Designed by Apple from the ground up, Maps gives you turn-by-turn spoken directions, interactive 3D views, and the stunning Flyover feature.1 All in a beautiful vector-based interface that scales and zooms with ease.

Apple is actively working to improve iOS 6 Maps, while third parties continue to capitalize on the negative media attention to the new Apple built Maps app. Google is also expected to release a standalone version of Google Maps on the App Store at some point.
