How Apple’s Maps are Far Better than Google Maps

Apple has taken a lot of heat over their new Maps app in iOS 6, mostly due to concerns over inaccurate data (although I’ve personally found Apple’s Maps app a pleasure to use). There’s one significant area in which Apple Maps clearly dominates Google Maps, however: Design.

The below image, seen on Reddit, provides a look at the detail on Apple’s highway icons versus Google Maps highway icons. As you can see, Apple’s maps actually share details for each highway, while Google has gone with their traditional bland and boring approach.

Apple Gazette has gone to the trouble of verifying that the above image is, in fact, correct, and notes a number of other ways in which Apple Maps is just better designed that Google’s mapping platform. Check out their full post for the rundown!
