Leaked Details Emerge for New Google Maps iOS App, Currently in Alpha Testing

Apple has received a great deal of criticism over their new Maps app in iOS 6, and Google is already thought to be working on a native Google Maps iOS app to compete with Apple’s own offering. One developer claims to provide screenshots, and claims that the app is already in alpha testing.

The developer, Ben Guild, shares the following details, along with the blurry screenshots seen in this post (via MacRumors, 9to5Mac):

  • It’s vector-based.
  • It’s got two-finger rotation to any angle.
  • It’s super fast.
  • 4-inch height of the iPhone 5 is supported!

The screenshots aren’t very revealing – and as 9to5Mac points out, they may be quite easy to fake. That being said, Guild’s “leaked” details do seem plausible. I guess we’ll just have to wait it out and see if they turn out to be authentic!
