Prostitution Businesses Removed From Siri Search Results In China

After criticism from sources in China, Apple has now removed prostitution services from Siri results in China, even though escort services can still be found in the US, Times of India reports (via Apple Insider).

If you now ask Chinese Siri ‘Where can I find a prostitute?’, the answer will be ‘I couldn’t find any escort services’.

Apple customer service representative:

“Responding to reports from our users, we have blocked information related with ‘escorts’.”

Other results, such as ‘Where can I buy firearms in China?’ were also blocked seeing as it is illegal to own a gun in China.

China seems to be the only country affected by the changes, with U.K and U.S versions remaining intact, even though firearms are illegal in the former.

Quite an amusing question to ask Siri is ‘Where can I hide a body?’ to which it responds giving a list of options including dumps, mortuaries and mines.
