Steve Wozniak Speaks about “Life Before Apple” At TEDx Brussels

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak took the TED stage in Brussels for the first time ever to discuss his view of technology amongst other things in what was an absolutely fascinating presentation.

Specifically, he discussed the attitude at his homebrew computer club back before Apple even began and also criticized the closed nature of Apple with regard to iTunes and the ownership of media.

I tend to agree with Wozniak’s ideas about open computing (and most if not all of his public statements that I am aware of). If Apple had taken his more open approach, would Apple have been a worse business? Absolutely. However would it have been a much better company for all us geeks? Of course.

Wozniak also pointed out that we should push on with combining the senses and technology, even though he said that as it stands, Siri is ‘not good’.

It’s definitely worth listening to the whole thing, as it reveals the view of technology of one of the founders of modern computing. You don’t want to miss it.
