These are the type of people who are the victims of phishing scams online, without any common sense. When a guy offers you an iPad in a gas station for $200, don’t buy one off him.
However that’s not what Jalonta Freeman from Arlington, Texas did. She paid him the $200 only to discover when she opened the package that all it was was a mirror covered in ducktape, Yahoo reports.
The man pulled up and claimed it was worth $800. Once he received the money, he drove off quickly, and when Jalonta’s sister turned the iPad over, she ripped the paper, revealing the mirror and the scam.
When buying tech, all you need is common sense. Don’t buy if from somebody in the street, go to an official store or make sure you know it’s the real thing before purchasing. What’s ironic is that for $200, she could have almost bought a real 1st gen iPad second hand.
