Apple Expected to Launch iTunes in Russia at Upcoming Moscow Event

A small set of media types have been invited to an iTunes related Apple media event to be held in Moscow on Tuesday. The event is leading to further speculation that the iTunes Store is about to debut in Russia.

AppleInsider:

The invitation, obtained by TechCrunch, notes that the iTunes team will be “holding a musical evening.” The event will reportedly be a small affair at the GUM shopping center in Red Square.

Rumors of the iTunes Store finally arriving in Russia have abounded for years, but the country still has no access to Apple’s online media store. Earlier rumors had pegged a release for October, then November.

Last year Apple launched its online store in 12 remaining European countries that did not previously have access to the service, ending an eight year wait.

Countries such as Bulgaria, Lithuania and Romania now have access to iTunes content, but Russia remains without.
