We’re back with another Amazing Apple Anecdote for you to enjoy. This week we learn about the absolute hatred Jobs had for Google, so much so he wanted to pull Google search from the iPhone. He didn’t go ahead with the plan for fear of a customer backlash.
At the time of his death, Jobs had come to loathe Google, which he felt was copying features of the iPhone while withholding a key feature of Google Maps that allows smartphones to dictate turn-by-turn directions aloud. Jobs also discussed pulling Google search from the iPhone, but figured that customers would reject that move, according to two former Apple executives.
The question then needs to be asked who would he have gone with? Bing would have hardly been much better, nobody uses Ask Jeeves, so unless Apple bought a search engine, it would have been difficult to find a suitable replacement. That’s all for this week but we’ll be back soon with more, for now though, enjoy.
