Apple Announces New Store Opening In Melbourne, Adelaide Coming Soon

Down Under is getting an extra dose of Apple. Already a country with quite a few Apple Stores, Apple has announced a new store opening in Melbourne, while another store opening in Adelaide is expected soon, 9to5Mac reports.

The Melbourne store will open its doors on April 27, and you’ll presumably get a T-shirt commemorating the occasion if you get there early. Located in Highpoint, a major Melbourne shopping centre, it is rather amusingly above a Samsung Experience store. Normally you would like Apple stores to go through the roof, in this case, you want them to go through the floor.

Meanwhile, the opening of the Adelaide store is expected very soon. The telltale boarding has gone up, and Apple has been advertising for jobs, however it has been described as boring and unoriginal compared to other stores.

AdelaideNow:

The company’s Shanghai outlet is a towering cylinder, made from the largest curved glass panes in the world, and in Chicago, the roof of the Apple store is carpeted with lush green grass. Designs for a new Rundle Mall shopfront widely believed to be the location for the company’s first stand-alone Adelaide store have been described as “unimaginative” and “slavish”.

The high expectations do seem a bit ridiculous. From the looks of things, the Adelaide store will modeled on the traditional Apple Store template. The Shanghai and Chicago stores are in iconic cities in Apple’s main markets, so something unique can be expected. For Adelaide, not even Australia’s biggest city or store, there’s no reason to go overboard.
