Now that we’ve seen much of the recent sales and activation data from U.S. iPhone carriers for the last three months, it appears that the iPhone is seriously kicking butt in the U.S. smartphone market. In fact, according to charts and details posted by Benedict Evans, the iPhone accounted for a whopping 57% of all smartphone activations over the past three months!

Numbers for the three big US operators that carry the iPhone (T-Mobile, which didn’t in Q1, hasn’t released the Q1 numbers yet). iPhone was 57% of smartphone activations and 49% of ALL contract phone sales. Smartphones are 86% of contract sales.

Despite all of the analysts out there griping about Apple’s “slow” iPhone sales, these are some pretty impressive numbers – especially considering that it’s been well over half a year since the last iPhone was released.

Keep it up, Apple!
