T-Mobile USA today began taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5 ahead of its April 12 launch. A 16GB iPhone will cost $99.99 down, with 24 monthly payments of $20, for a total of $579.99.
The 32 GB and 64 GB models carry the same monthly payment amounts, but require larger down payments of $199.99 and $299.99 respectively.
Under T-Mobile’s “Uncarrier” plans, single line service plans will require no contract, and will begin at $50 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data. However, data will be slowed to 2G speeds once the customer reaches 500MB for the month.
For a $60 monthly charge, a customer can get 2.5GB of high-speed data, and for $70, can get unlimited high-speed access.
Now, let’s see how long it will take for the first “industry analyst” to forecast doom-and-gloom for Apple if the T-Mobile pre-sales don’t immediately sell out…
