New High-Res Images Show Side-By-Side Comparison of Claimed ‘iPhone 5S’ and iPhone 5 Displays

As Apple’s expected fall launch of the next-gen iPhone draws nearer, a new set of leaked high-res images have surfaced (via Fanatic Fone), showing a claimed “iPhone 5S” display side-by-side with an iPhone 5 display. The two displays feature a number of differences, mostly in the cabling to connect them to the logic board.

Despite a few apparent differences, the two displays are similar enough to suggest that the next-gen iPhone will indeed feature a significantly revamped internal structure, despite expectations that the overall outward facing design is likely to remain the same. The images also match up to previous part leaks, including yesterday’s leak of a matching display and logic board assembly. Additional images can be viewed in the gallery below.

While the authenticity of the parts is unclear, BGR seems convinced that they are authentic – and indeed, they do look like exactly what we would expect from official Apple components. They’re also unusually high quality images, which may add to their credibility.

The “iPhone 5S” is likely to be unveiled later this year, with current rumors pointing to September, and is rumored to include significant under-the-hood upgrades, as well as a possible fingerprint sensor under the home button.
