Visualized: The Evolution of iOS, From “iPhone Software 1.0” to iOS 7

There’s no doubt that Apple’s latest version of iOS has gone through some pretty dramatic changes, both visually and under the hood. In fact, iOS 7 is the most radically different version of iOS that Apple has ever unveiled – and despite how you feel about the changes, it will shape Apple’s future direction for iOS forever.  But just how much different does it really look?

CultofMac points to an image from Reddit user iKurac showing the evolution of the iPhone home screen (click here for a high-res version)- and I’d argue that the difference are MUCH more substantial in person than that image represents. The changes are especially apparent when placed next to iOS 6. Co.Design has assembled a collection of images that highlights the dramatic changes rather well. A few of the ones that caught my eye the most can be found below.

What do you think about Apple’s new design direction – love it, hate it, or do you just not care as long as it works? Let us know by sounding off in the comments!
