YouTube 2.0 For iOS Released With Picture-in-Picture, Updated Design

Google has launched version 2.0 of its YouTube app for iOS. The update brings a tweaked user interface, a new icon, and picture-in-a-picture to the popular mobile app.

Macstories:

The big new feature of this version is picture-in-picture for videos, which allows you to keep watching a video while browsing or searching. This has been a popular option of third-party clients such as FoxTube for quite a while, and, in Google’s implementation, the player can be dismissed with a tap on an arrow button or a swipe down directly on the video player.

The YouTube 2.0 update gives iOS users picture-in-picture video multitasking and playlist search tools that Google offers in their Android update from earlier today.

The interface of the app has been improved to be more responsive than the previous version, and offers a more subdued design.

YouTube for iOS Version 2.0 changes include:

  • Watch a video while searching for the next one, just like picture-in-picture
  • Search for playlists and use the “play all” button for endless entertainment

YouTube 2.0 is available FREE for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
