Apple Updates iMac Lineup With Haswell CPUs, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, GeForce 700 Graphics, and More

Apple has issued updates to it’s iMac lineup of all-in-one desktop computers. The updates bring Intel’s latest Haswell processor platform, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Nvidia’s new GeForce 700 series graphics, and more to the venerable computer lineup.

The new iMac also sports faster PCIe flash storage options to boost performance. It comes in the same thin design debuted by the company last year.

It will cost you $1,299 for the entry-level 21.5-inch iMac, which features a 2.7-gigahertz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor and new Iris Pro integrated graphics.

On the other end of the scale, starting at $1,999, Apple’s new top-of-the-line iMac boasts quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 3.5 GHz and Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M series graphics with up to 4GB of video memory.

The updated computers also feature 802.11ac Wi-Fi capabilities, which can deliver wireless connectivity up to three times faster than 802.11n wireless equipped devices.

The new iMac also boasts support for PCIe-based flash storage that makes both Fusion Drive and flash storage options up to 50% faster than previous generation solutions. Customer can configure their iMac with a 1 to 3 TB Fusion Drive, or up to 1 TB of flash storage.

The iMac comes standard with 8 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB hard drive. Options include configurations of up to 32 GB of memory, and a 3 TB hard drive.

The iMac also includes four USB 3.0 ports, in addition to two Thunderbolt ports. Allowing the use of external storage and othe high-performance peripherals.
