Sony Announces Release Date for PlayStation 4 Companion App for iOS and Android

Sony has announced the release date of their PlayStation 4 companion app for both iOS and Android. The app will debut alongside the new PS4 gaming console on November 15th in the US, and November 29th in Europe.

TUAW:

The PlayStation App lets you use your iOS (including the iPad) or Android device as a game controller or use it as a second screen, if that feature is enabled in a particular title. You will be able to download games remotely and the app includes social networking features, such as Twitter and Facebook.

Speculation is that the mobile device will connect via Wi-Fi, as it would prove to supply a more stable connection than Bluetooth. (But don’t Sony’s PS3 controllers currently connect via Bluetooth? – Ed.) No confirmation of the connection method is forthcoming as yet from Sony.
