Tim Cook: Apple Acquired 15 Companies During Fiscal 2014

Yesterday’s Apple fourth-quarter earnings call saw CEO Tim Cook announcing Apple has completed 15 “strategic” acquisitions during fiscal 2013.

MacRumors:

Over the course of the year, Apple has focused on purchasing quite a few mapping companies, with the aim of improving its mapping services. Acquisitions have included Embark, HopStop,WifiSLAM, and Locationary.

Apple has also recently acquired data compression startup AlgoTrim, personal assistant app Cue, wireless chip developer Passif Semiconductor, and discovery and recommendation startup Matcha.tv.

While the majority of Apple’s acquisitions have been eventually made public, if Tim Cook’s comment that Apple has “great products” coming is any indicator, some of the still yet to be announced acquisiitons may come to light during the course of 2014 as new products are introduced.
