LA County Sheriff Saved From Bullet Wound By Her Lightning Cable

Many can say their Apple Lighting cable has saved the day for them, but we’re fairly certain few can make the statement in the same way that a LA County Sheriff’s Deputy can.

TUAW:

A Los Angeles (Calif.) County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning in Inglewood, Calif., but things could have been worse had it not been for an Apple Lightning charger cable that was in her pocket. The charger cable actually deflected a bullet that would have otherwise been embedded in the deputy’s hip.

A male deputy was also reported to have been grazed by gunfire.

The LA County Sheriff’s official Twitter account lauded the “miracle” of the Lightning cable taking one for the team. The accompanying photo indicates the USB connector end of the cable took the brunt of the bullet.

Looks like the deputy will be needing to make a visit to her local Apple Store for a replacement. We’re betting once she tells her tale there, she’ll be walking out with a free cable.
