Man Makes 3-D Printed Prosthetic Hand for Son

A man has created a prosthetic hand for his son using a 3-D printer. This is truly a labor of love from a man who didn’t ask “why?” But simply, “why not?” I especially love when the boy smilingly describes himself as a “Cyborg!”

CBS News, via The Loop:

Two years ago, Paul McCarthy began searching for an inexpensive yet functional prosthetic hand for his son Leon, who was born without fingers on one of his hands. McCarthy came across a video online with detailed instruction on how to use a 3-D printer to make a prosthetic hand for his son.

The low price of the 3-D printing device allows the father and son to experiment with different type of hands, and will also allow them to easily create new hands as the boy grows.

So very cool.
