As a followup to the one-of-a-kind Leica camera that Jony Ives and Marc Newson collaborated on, it seems they’ve been doing a bit of furniture design too. Gaze upon the (RED) Aluminum Desk.
As you might expect, it’s made from machined aluminum, fabricated by renowned aluminum specialists Neal Feay Studio. The design is, though, not quite as minimalist as I’d expected, featuring a mosaic pattern on its surface.
The desk will be auctioned by Sotheby’s on November 23rd, so start checking your seat cushions for spare change, shake your piggy banks, and um.. maybe sell a kidney too, this thing is going to go for some big bucks.
