Remember the Apple Store Specialist at the store in Vancouver with the unfortunate name of “Sam Sung”? It seems he’s no longer with the company, having left for a job with a corporate recruiting firm.
CNBC has learned that Sam Sung, a one-time specialist at an Apple store in Vancouver, hasn’t worked at the giant tech company for months.
We reported last year about Mr. Sung, who became a bit of an Internet sensation when a visitor to a Canadian Apple Store noticed the name of the specialist assisting a family member.
A CNBC writer called the Pacific Centre Apple Store to confirm that Sam Sung was indeed no longer associated with Apple. When the reporter spoke with an employee, the scene played out as something akin to an Abbott and Costello routine. (Look them up kids.)
“Hi, I’d like to speak to Sam.”
“Oh. Sam Sung no longer works at Apple.”
“Where did Sam Sung go?”
“He decided to move on. He may have wanted to do something else.”
After the story went live, it was discovered that Mr. Sung had found employment with a corporate recruiting firm. When reached for comment, Sam said he’d prefer not to comment out of respect for both his former and current employers.
