Twitter for iOS Updated With New Design, Reading List Support, Ability to DM Images, and More!

Twitter has launched a major new version of their iOS app today, featuring a brand new design with vastly improved swiping and easier access to direct messages. And speaking of direct messages, Twitter for iOS 6.0 delivers a welcome new feature in that category as well: The ability to send images via DM!

In addition, the app also includes improved notification options and search enhancements, and support for Apple’s Reading List link-saving API.

From the iTunes release notes:

What’s New in Version 6.0

New design.
• Refreshed look and feel. Home, Activity and Discover now available by swiping in Timelines. Easier access to DMs.

Share photos in Direct Messages.
• Send and receive photos via DMs.

Notifications from your network.
• Choose to view replies, retweets, and favorites from only the people that you follow.

Search got even easier.
• Access tweets from people you follow and near you, directly from search results.

Safari Reading List support
• Save web articles to read later with Safari Reading List.

It’s a pretty welcome redesign – the new features are appropriate and welcome, and the new design really feels and looks pretty great. The update is available immediately for all iOS devices from the App Store.
