Apple and Samsung CEOs Will Attempt Mediation Before Next Round of Patent Court Fight

CEOs Tim Cook of Apple and Oh-Hyun Kwon of Samsung will take one more shot at mediation before the two companies are scheduled to return to court for the next round in their continuing patent battle. The session will take place sometime before February 19.

The technology rivals are facing a March trial date in the United States over Apple’s claims that Samsung infringed its patents.

The meeting of the leaders is a by-product of a January 6 meeting between Apple and Samsung’s lawyers in which they discussed settlement opportunities. AppleInsider reports the trial between the two companies is expected to begin March 31.

The two companies are embroiled in a worldwide patent battle over mobile device patents. The last two years have seen the two tech giants go to trial twice in a San Jose, California Federal Court, with the result of juries awarding Apple a total of roughly $930 million.
