Russian Government Replaces iPads With Samsung Tablets

Business Insider reports that Russian government officials have stopped using iPads for official business, opting instead to use devices from Samsung. The new devices are customized, secure tablets designed for use with confidential information.

Russian officials have denied claims that the change is part of an effort to stop dealing with American companies, following U.S. sanctions related to the crisis in the Ukraine. Other rumors say it is in response to rumors that the U.S. government has “backdoor” access to Apple’s iOS devices, a claim that Apple has denied.
