This Slim iPhone Case Can Check Your Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, and More

We’ve seen iPhone accessories that can check your blood pressure, monitor your heart rate, and even take an electrocardiogram (ECG). But now there’s a thin, ultra-light iPhone case that can do all that and more. Enter: Wello.

Gizmodo:

This thin, ultralight iPhone case can measure your blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and blood oxygen levels in just a few seconds. All you have to do is hold your phone a specific (but not weird) way. The corresponding app will even display your ECG waves and test your lung function with the help of a small accessory that you breathe into. It’s like a little tricorder that also happens to keep your phone from getting scratched.

While there are other devices and accessories available to do the same functions, Wello is likely the most sophisticated device out there for use by the general public.

While Wello looks like a regular case, it can monitor your vitals, sync with your Wi-Fi scale or fitness band, and it’s accompanying app even helps you spot changes or irregularities in your health.

Wello still has yet to receive FDA approval, however the device’s maker, Azoi, is taking pre-orders for $200. The company hopes to have FDA approval by this fall, and the company is also working on an Android version. (Until that’s been developed and approved, Android users will be able to remove the business card-sized bundle of electronics from the iPhone case and use it in stand-alone mode.)

Wow, we are SO close to Star Trek Medical Tricorder territory here…
