Angela Ahrendts to Join Apple Next Week

During yesterday’s Q2 earnings call, Tim Cook announced that Apple’s new new retail and online head, Angela Ahrendts, will be joining Apple next week.

Ahrendts turned in her resignation at British luxury fashion house Burberry back in October 2013, but stayed with the company for a six month period to aid in the transition to new CEO Christopher Bailey. April marked the fulfillment of that obligation.

Ahrendts joins the company as the Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores. The retail head position has remained empty since the removal of former Dixons CEO John Browett, who lasted less than a year. Browett was the replacement for Ron Johnson, who left Apple in 2011 for a position at retailer JC Penney.

It was suggested earlier this month that Ahrendts may hang on with Burberry until June in orde to collect a large performance bonus. It appears she has either decided to give up the bonus, or negotiations have been made behind the scenes for her to be compensated in other ways.
