Anki Drive iOS Controlled Racing Game Adds New Cars and Tracks

Anki has announced two new cars and two new tracks for their iPhone-controlled Anki Drive car racing game. Hadion and Corax – new characters that focus on speed and weaponry, respectively – join the existing four cars.

From the Anki Blog:

Designed by Anki and Hollywood legend Harald Belker, Corax and Hadion are the newest characters available for Anki DRIVE. Hadion is built for speed and is the only car that can access Turbo Boost, which enables you to fly incredibly fast down the track. Corax is the ultimate warrior, with the option to mount multiple weapons. Watch out, he’s an aggressive one!

The new cars are be available Anki’s today from the Anki website for $69.99 each

In addition to the new cars, Anki is also offering two new tracks for your racing pleasure.

Crossroads: This track blends hard corners with a challenging new obstacle. An intersection puts your driving skills to the test, requiring perfect timing and the optimum strategy to survive. Or blast your way to victory from across the track with a well-aimed shot at your opponent.

Bottleneck: This track introduces a new set of challenges. The challenging bottleneck shape requires the perfect line to edge past your opponents. Timing is everything. Drop the throttle to thread the needle, or drop a Timed Charge to strike anyone behind you.

The Bottleneck and Crossroads tracks will be available for $99 beginning May 6 on and at select retailers, and can also be pre-ordered on starting today. See here for more.

Anki Drive debuted at the 2013 WWDC, and quickly gained the attention of model racing enthusiasts. Basically an updated slot car racing set, Anki Drive uses artificial intelligence, iPhone-based controls, and a vinyl track to create a real-world racing game that allows players to attack each other as the cars drive themselves around the track.

The original Anki Drive racing set is available from the Anki website, the Apple Store, and now on for $199.
