Apple Expands iPhone Trade-In Program to Germany

Apple’s iPhone trade-in program is now being offered to German customers. The German launch was spotted by Apfelpage.de [Google Translation] in the Apple Store app.

The program, which allows customers to trade in an older iPhone in-store and receive an Apple Store gift card worth up to €230 to be used towards the purchase of a new iPhone, expanded to France and Canada last month.

The trade-in initiative debuted in U.S. stores just before the launch of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c last fall, followed by a U.K. debut a few months later. The company also offers mail-in recycling.

Apple says the phones received via trade-in will be recycled, a much more environmentally smart option than simply disposing of them.
