T-Mobile’s MetroPCS ‘Very Interested’ in Adding the iPhone to Their Lineup

T-Mobile’s Mike Sievert says the carrier is “very interested” in adding the iPhone to its offerings on its MetroPCS prepaid service. When T-Mobile acquired the prepaid carrier last year it indicated that adding the iPhone to the MetroPCS lineup of phones was a possibility, but hadn’t mentioned it again until now.

Re/code, via MacRumors:

“We are very interested in that,” Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert told Re/code. “We think the Metro PCS customer would be as well.” […] 

Part of the challenge is finding an attractive way to make it affordable enough for all of MetroPCS’s customers, many of whom have tighter budgets and some of whom might not have good enough credit to qualify for device financing.

MetroPCS, which operates as a separate brand on T-Mobile’s network, had approximately nine million customers when it was acquired by T-Mobile.
