Foxconn Gearing up for iPhone 6 Production – Hiring 100,000 New Workers

Apple’s manufacturing partners are gearing up to start cranking out new iOS devices for later this year, reports Taiwan’s Economic Daily News [Google Translate]. Main manufacturing partner Foxconn is reportedly hiring 100,000 new workers to assemble the iPhone 6.

Pegatron is also reported to be aiding in the production of the iPhone 6, with its share of production reported as high as 30% for the upcoming handset. The report says the company will be boosting its workforce by 30% to accommodate production of the iPhone 6.

The timing of these reports fits the pattern for iPhone production in recent years, as new iPhone production tends to ramp up in mid-summer, for their fall release timeframe.

Apple is expected to release two sizes of the iPhone 6, with a 4.7-inch model, alongside an even larger 5.5-inch model.
